The Muslim book industry is not organized the same as is the non-Muslim industry found in say the USA, United Kingdom and Canada. Also if you publish outside the USA, you do not have to pay for an ISBN, but the number of ISBN you may order at any one time also has limitations.

Most traditional Muslim publishing houses handle printing, distribution, fulfillment and marketing. These tasks can be out sourced, but are always controlled by the publisher. Most publishers do not list or sell titles they have not published. Muslim publishers establish their own network of distribution to include online and brick & mortar bookstores, schools, masjids and other retail sources.

There aren’t any lists of free-lance professionals who provide services for the self-publishing author such as book production and marketing tasks. Also subsidy publishing (fees paid for book production services & distribution) is relatively “new” for Muslim authors.

Many of the websites and services listed in the Non-Muslim Resource Section can be used by a Muslim author depending on the needs of the author and author’s book (Marketing Plan).

Copies of published newspaper reviews to: CAIR National, ISNA and other large Muslim organizations.

Writing articles for magazines and websites. You are usually permitted to include your website or name of your book in the By Line. This is an excellent strategy for improving name recognition.
