Bismillah Ar-Rahman Ar-Raheem
Asalaam alaikum,
Muslim Writers Publisher announces that with the will of Allah, Linda Jamilah Kolocotronis, author of the Echos series has passed away. Sr. Jamilah is survived by her mother, husband, and sons and their families.
Jamilah converted to Islam at 23years old, married Abdul-Munim Sombat Jitmoud and had six sons. She obtained a doctorate degree, taught grade school, and authored several books. Quite a productive life, masha Allah, despite living with chronic cancer and multiple chemical sensitivity disorder.
Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji'un.
Whatever Jamilah's accomplishments, I will remember her for her soft and gentle nature, and her love of mankind and of justice. Jamilah was the person who always seemed to experience the most frustration when seeing suffering in this modern world - the frustration came from her empathetic and kind soul. I will miss her.
Somber as I am that my first communication with Muslim Writer Publishing visitors entails communicating this sad event, my heart is lightened by Islam. Allah is merciful, and I hope He makes it light for her (and us) in the grave, forgives her for any shortcomings, and grants her Jannah, insha Allah, ameen.
As you may know, my name is Debora McNichol, and I am the new owner of Muslim Writers Publishing. I hope, insha Allah, to continue Sr. Widad's tradition of bringing Islamic Fiction to adults and children. She certainly has done her best to break ground in this English language genre, masha Allah.
Please bear with me through this transition. Insha Allah, I will be up and running shortly.
Salaam!
